Miscellany pertaining to legal suit, Ezekiel C. Bowen vs. William R. Garrison, 1857-1858.

Letters and documents pertaining to a legal complaint filed by Ezekiel C. Bowen against William R. Garrison in the 12th district court of San Francisco on July 31, 1858, in which Bowen claims that Garrison owes him $520.00, via a promissory note signed over to Bowen from Theodore A. and Mary C. Wakeman. The Wakemans had had an agreement with Garrison that Mary Wakeman would be paid a monthly sum of money while her husband was away on business for Garrison. The collection consists of a draft of the complaint, a document showing that the suit was commenced, and three handwritten notes, two of which are from Garrison and concern Wakeman's business trip. The third note is from Bowen to his attorney, S.W. Holladay, enclosing the claim against Garrison.
